Annual Meeting

17 02 2010

Earlier this month, Chard Carnival Committee held their Annual Meeting, where, despite the problems with the carnival, they were able to present some cheques to local groups and organisations.

£2000 was presented to the Children’s Hospice South West, an organisation that offers respite care to local families.

£250 donation was given to St John Ambulance for providing first aid cover at our carnival.

£200 was given to Chard Town Council for the enhancement of the Carnival Roundabout (East Street)

£100 was given to Manor Court Pre School for new vegetable gardens and storage for the buildings.

Chard Carnival Committee is also looking for a new Treasurer, as our previous Treasurer has retired. We are also looking for more marshals to ensure crowd safety during the main carnival procession. All marshals will receive training and a hot meal. Anyone interested in these roles, or indeed joining the committee, should contact Helena Stone, Chairperson, on 01460 61224.
